The Ka-Ro TX28 is Ka-Ro’s fourth module in the TX series based on Freescale’s multimedia i.MX processor series. Integrated in the latest module is the Freescale i.MX287 ARM 9 processor which boasts display, power management and connectivity features unmatched in ARM9-based devices, reducing system cost and complexity for cost sensitive applications. With optimized performance and power consumption, the i.MX28 is an ideal fit for fanless systems or for portable equipment that needs to be battery operated. Numerous connectivity options including dual 10/100 Ethernet (IEEE® 1588 capable) with L2 switch address specific needs for industrial applications.
In addition to its design for the industrial temperature range (-40 ° C to 85 ° C) further characteristics of the module, such as fast DDR2 memory interface, integrated RTC and two CAN interfaces, pave the way for its use in a wide and new range of application areas such as remote control devices and home automation. The new TX28 comes with both standard Windows CE and Linux operating systems.
The Freescale Longevity program guarantees, as with the other TX modules, long-term availability of the Ka-Ro TX28 for a minimum of 7 years.
The TX28 module’s development environment “Ka-Ro Starter Kit V” is already available at a net price of 999 euros and helps developers to achieve an even better time-to-market, as they can focus directly on the individual, application-specific adaptations.

About KA-RO:
Ka-Ro electronics was founded in 1988 by Matthias Kaussen and Rolf Rosenstein. It was recognised early on that pure manufacturing services could not completely cover the high demands set by the customer. Even shorter development times, together with the rapid changes in component geometries and their availability, led to the need for a competent partner who could solve all of these problems. It is precisely the solution to these problems that KARO electronics made into its "dynamic" goal.
