XpressROM Firmware For the AMD Geode™ Solutions Set

AMD Geode logoInsyde Software's AMD Geode XpressROM Firmware is the premier BIOS solution for Geode based designs, providing a cost effective system level solution for consumer electronics, set-top boxes, thin clients, and single board computing products. XpressROM was built from the ground up for platforms based on the AMD Geode family of integrated processors, single chip IA devices, and companion chips.

Key Features

  • Co-developed by AMD and Insyde Software specifically for thin clients, embedded systems, and more
  • Configuration tool provides simple binary customizations for quick time-to-market
  • Suspend to RAM support for longer battery life
  • Boot from Disk-on-Chip available
  • Scalable architecture to support RTOS's, embedded Linux, and Windows OS's
  • Next generation Virtual System Architecture support (VSA II)
  • USB PC Legacy support

AMD Geode GX processorCo-developed with Insyde Software, XpressROM is verified and shipped on AMD and AMD partner Geode reference designs. XpressROM development begins with the early support of new silicon and ends with a successful implementation on your Geode powered platform.

Debug solution for AMD Geode™

FS2FS2 logo

The System Navigator is designed to support the special features and integrated peripherals of the AMD Geode™ GX and Geode™ LX processors.
On-Chip Instrumentation (OCI®) extensions for software debug and system testing have been jointly developed with AMD and are integrated into the processor. These OCI features allow FS2 to provide a powerful debug tool with advanced features at a competitive price.
The System Navigator tools are used for hardware testing and integration, BIOS development, and other firmware/software testing.

In addition to hardware and software breakpoints, processor run control, and access to all the CPU registers and coprocessor registers, the FS2 System Navigator has on-chip trace features. Trace information is decoded and displayed as executed instructions. Trace can be captured in on-chip memory (128 x 64-bit frames). The trace window displays disassembled instructions interspersed with special messages such as interrupts and exceptions.

The System Navigator is contained in a compact chassis that connects to the target system using a 14-pin debug connector. The System Navigator runs on a Windows® 2000/XP PC or Linux PC over a USB 2.0 port or optional 10/100 Ethernet connection. The GNU-based source debugger program GDB is included and provides the user with an easy-to-use interface.
